Licorna Winehouse
In 1909, after — local legend has it — a dream in which Constantin Brâncoveanu appeared to him, Nicolae Nicolau built a stone cellar at Gura Vadului with Italian stonemasons. That old cellar still stands: it houses the tasting room of Licorna Winehouse, opened in 2013. The estate works around 22 hectares in the Dealu Mare wine region, Romanian varieties up front — Fetească Neagră, Fetească Albă, Tămâioasă Românească — alongside Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Anno range carries the harvest year on its label, and the Bon Viveur wine brought the winery a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards in London. The winery has since opened its doors to visitors, with tastings and a restaurant next to the old cellar. At the conac, Licorna wines accompany the Farm-to-Table menu.
